It is our pleasure to share Young Friends Kindergarten’s sustainable journey and practices with you, so that together we can create a more sustainable future for our planet.
We intend to support other nurseries in not only operating sustainably but even more importantly in teaching our young children to lead environmentally-friendly lives. It is crucial to start teaching children about sustainability from a young age so we can really embed those healthy habits for life and help protect our planet. That’s why we’ve dedicated ourselves to creating a sustainable early years setting that can serve as a model for others to follow.
The Tribe is about the truth – you won’t find us sugar coating or pretending our journey to greater sustainability has been easy. We have, and still do, face both trials and tribulations, but through hard work and determination, we persevere every day and our vision is now, albeit a work-in-progress, a reality. From reducing our waste and energy usage, to implementing eco-friendly practices, resourcing, and creating a sustainable curriculum, we are proud to say that our nursery is now more sustainable than ever before.
We all know we need to do this – it would be a travesty not to be thinking about sustainability in even the smallest way – but we also understand that sustainability can be a daunting topic when setting out from the starting block. Therefore, we want to share our story and experiences with you all. Through these blogs, which we’ll be putting out every two weeks, we’ll share our successes and failures, as well as
practical tips and tricks for you to use in your own nurseries.
So, if you’re either passionate about sustainability or even just know that this is what we are morally required to do for our children and want to learn more about how you can make your own nursery more eco-friendly, keep reading these blogs. Let’s create a greener future for the next generation.
